It's almost like having a user register at a web forum before posting. But it might be an extra step they are unwilling to have to take to use your forms.

Could be a privacy issue too? What if they just start putting in colleagues details to retrieve their info! Or save incorrect details?

Re: How to dynamically populate infopath form templates based on user input(name, id etc)?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. As of now, it doesn't have a table. But if I create a blank table, is there a way that when a user enters all his details(name, id, dob etc) in one infopath form(say form1), the table is automatically updated and is used as a data-source for the rest of the forms that he fills. I am not sure if this is possible.

Thanks again!

If it does, you could use that list as a secondary data-source to do a couple of things.

You could let the user enter in last and first name, then match this with the secondary data source to retrieve all the other info. Or if the sharepoint list is comprehensive (ie everyone is always listed there) then you could just provide a drop down list of names to pick from.

How to dynamically populate infopath form templates based on user input(name, id etc)?

Hi,

My company just started using sharepoint workspace to colloborate on projects. We have created infopath templates and synchronized them with sharepoint. Right now when a project manager creates a workspace, they need to fill in many fields like name, project id etc in 25-30 different infopath templates. Is there a way that they can fill only in one template, and the same fields in the remaining temlates in the workspace gets populated by itself ?

Thanks a lot in advance,
