This might sound strange, but in jScript a / (or is it a \) is a 'special character', so when you want a slash to be interpreted, you need double slash....

Just give each combination a try and see if it works, can't hurt :-)

InfoPath Roles and Active Directory Groups

Hi

We are using InfoPath 2003 SP3.

I have a form with a role whose user assignment is an AD group. This role is not the default role. Up until recently this has been working fine - the members of the AD group are assigned the correct role on opening the form.

Historically, our AD users had a common name in the format First Name Last Name e.g. John Smith.

However, our operations team, who manage AD, have recently made a change to the way user accounts are created. Now, a new user has a common name in the format Last Name / First Name / 4-digit number e.g. Smith / John / 1234. Since this change, any user with this new common name format is not being recognised by InfoPath as being a member of a group and is being given the default role in the form instead. Testing has proved that the "/" in the common name is causing the problem - when it is removed InfoPath assigns the correct role.

Ok, so we know what the problem is and potentially how to fix it i.e. replace the "/" with another character. My questions are:

1. Does any one know why InfoPath can't cope with a "/" in the common name?

2. Is there any way to identify what could be an acceptable character to replace it with?

Thanks

Anne
