How do you know which departments the manager has access to? Is it in Active Directory? If so, I recommend using our Active Directory Web Service which will allow complex queries of Active Directory data and enumeration of all users in a group, etc. You just can't use the UserProfile service in SharePoint to do the kind of complex queries it seems you will need.

However, you still need to keep a list of who has access to what and control that somehow. You also haven't explained what you are going to do when they edit the data. Is this read-only or are they also submitting updates? Need much more detail here bro.

Retrieving Departments and its user where the logged in user is a manager

Hi,

I am working on sharepoint 2010 and infopath 2010.I need to design a infopath form which will be used by the managers.when the manager opens the form he needs to get all the department list in a drop down to which he has access and when he selects particular department in drop down all the users in that department should be retrieved and should bind to another dropdown. The user profile data is in the user profiles which are being synchronized from the active directory. Please let me know a better way to do this.
