If I recall correctly, SharePoint is returning the markup with the data, but the calculated value will show the value for the field, not the inner XML. Now, honestly, off hand I don't know if there a non-code away around this -- it seems like you may be able to save your form as source files and manually modify the data type for the field in your secondary data source so that it can be bound to a rich text control and thus display rich text in your form. It seems more likely that you may want to copy this rich text from your list into your form. You might want to check out qRules if you'd prefer not to write code to do this....I think the command for copying rich text would handle this for you (there is a free trial, so you can give it a try and see if it solves the issue for you...)

Re: Rich Text as read only description

Hmm, maybe the problem isn't what I think it is.

Leaving the whole Rich Text thing aside it seems to be removing the line breaks from the text. In SharePoint I get three lines of text but when it comes into InfoPath in either a Rich Text box or Calculated Value it appears as one long line of text.

Is there a trick that I'm missing somewhere?

Re: Rich Text as read only description

Hi -- do you have a link to anything that explains how to do this in IP 2007? Honestly, I'm surprised if there is something that has changed between the two versions that would make a work around for this no longer be valid (unless it is the initial steps of saving the form as source files....).

The things I'd wonder about are:

Is SharePoint returning the data as XHTML (that is, are the tags for marking up the text included in the returned data from SharePoint)

Can the data source be manually modified to change the data type for the item (InfoPath will probably assume it is a string, and the data type would need to be changed)

Rich Text as read only description

Hi all,

I've come across an issue where list data in rich text format comes out in my InfoPath form as plain text.

I've found a lot of comments about how to get around this in InfoPath 2007 but I'm using InfoPath 2010 and, obviously, things have changed and I can't follow the steps suggested.

Can anyone help out with some ideas or links to follow?

Cheers,
