We developed a tool to do this called XLS to XML - here's a link: http://www.qdabra.com/en/products/ExcelToInfoPath.aspx

am developing a form that needs to gather information related to items
being photographed for use on our company's website. The number of
items per request that need to be photographed may range from 1 to over
100. Each item needs to be entered into a repeating table with the
Item's SKU#, Color and Description. Using a repeating table is ok when
we only have a few items but when there are more than a few, it becomes
rather cumbersome to have to keep clicking "add additional item" to get a
new row. I know that i can have multiple rows show by default in my
form by using the Tools > Default values menu and adding in the
additional rows there. The problem with that is, if there are only 3
items and there are 100 rows in place, there are 97 empty rows.
Unfortunately, that's not an acceptable solution.

The users of
this form often have the list of items in an excel spreadsheet. Does
anyone have any ideas about how I can get the data from Excel into the
form? I understand that the copy/paste would work, but i couldn't get
it to work unless all the rows were already in place. As I mentioned
above, we don't want to do that.

I tried saving the Excel sheet
as an XML and adding that in as a secondary data source, which works
fine, but I don't know how to get the data source updated in the
individual form (or really to have the users somehow do it without
having to re-add the data source). We'd prefer to have it all in the
form instead of having the folks who process the request need to open
multiple documents (the form and the spreadsheet).

Surely, there is a way to do this... has anyone done something similar?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
