Autonumbering with restart at beginning of year

Hi, I am using InfoPath 2003. I am creating a request form and I would like to have a RequestID field that uses a format such as:

C/yyyy/mm/xxx

The C and the /'s are hardcoded. I have figured out how to fill in the yyyy and the mm. Currently my formula looks like this:

concat("C/", substring(today(), 1, 4), "/", substring(today(), 6, 2), "/001")

Notice that I have the "/001" hardcoded in.

However, I would like the autonumbering to start at 001, and then at the beginning of the new year, restart the numbering again.

I found the following article on the internet, but have not tried it out yet, and I don't think it covers "resetting the autonumbering sequence"

Can anyone provide any advice or thoughts on how to accomplish this? Sharing of code is welcome if you have already implemented something similar! I cannot imagine that I would be the first!
