By the way, when you copy/paste a control to another view, it's still a completely separate control. No controls are actually duplicates - they are all independent. For instance, you now have multiple controls bound to the same individual field, but each one behaves independently. Each one can have different text formatting, date formatting, conditional formatting, etc. Keep that in mind if you start doing any formatting to controls, because it will not carry over to the other views if those controls already exist. However, copying from view to view does maintain whatever formatting the first control has, but once you copy, there is no sync between them.

Re: Auto Populate repeated fields from view to view...

Holy cow.. I just tried what I replied with and it worked... That was too simple...

Thank you so much for your help! This has been bothering me for a while now..

As you probably have gathered already, I am a new user to InfoPath. I have this project which has been so lovingly bestowed upon me and this problem has been giving me a headache.

Thank you again.. you have helped me more than you may realize.

Re: Auto Populate repeated fields from view to view...

Yeah, I don't need to store data anywhere. Just a form for the user to fill out and print.

What you said sounds simple but I am not totally clear about the method. Should I just create the control on the one view and then instead of creating another control on the other views I should just copy the original control I made and then it will populate the data on every view where the control is copied?

Re: Auto Populate repeated fields from view to view...

You don't have to really do anything. Views don't store data - they store controls. Controls are nothing more than windows into the data, so all you have to do is create controls on the other views bound to the same fields. There is nothing to copy from view to view unless you want to start by copying your controls from view to view. The same data will show in every view - it's very simple.

Auto Populate repeated fields from view to view...

Hello folks!

I have been looking for a solution for this problems for a while now and can't seem to find it.

I have a multi-view form and there is fields which are repeated from view to view. For example, on the first view the form asks for a name and date of birth but these same things are requested on a couple of the other views. What I need is for the form to take the data that the user enters and automatically populate that data in fields in subsequent views where needed.

How do I do this?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Jay

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I am using InfoPath 2007, if that makes a difference.
