Hello,

Best practice for auto-numbering is to do a double submit. Submit to SharePoint, query the number assigned, set the field for the number, and then submit again. If you are also emailing the form, do that only after the other actions. I'm not sure what S.Y.M. Wong said in her blog. We don't support her web site. You're best asking her to explain herself. We have our own best practices and don't advocate writing code since it isn't needed most of the time.

hi all,

i have an infopath form that submits to a sharepoint library, having followed the following tutorial - http://www.bizsupportonline.net/browserforms/autonumber-infopath-form-submitted-sharepoint-library.htm it creates an autonumber for each form thats submitted.

what i wish to do is when submit is clicked, i want the form to be submitted to the document library with the autonumber and an email sent to the user who submitted the form. i managed to do this by setting up a rule so that an email is created and sent to a field that i have added into the form however this works and works well it has stopped the autonumbering taught in the above link and just creates NaN files instead.

can you suggest any solutions where i can add this with minimal coding?

any helo would be greatfully recieved.
