Because of the complexity of your question, I recommend a live meeting to walk through your form and demonstrate the technique. the other option would be to have you attach your XSN to the forum and we could look at it. If you'd like to do this, check out Qdabra's Support page. We provide an InfoPath 9-1-1 service and we could probably resolve your issue in 30-60 minutes. Bottom line: we need to look at your main data source and form to give you the specific advice you need. But, the good news is that this is possible without code.

I'm going offline now. Send email to QSales (at) Qdabra (dot) com if you are interested.

Re: Repeating group question

Well, that seems to be the problem: I think I have a pretty good idea *what* to change/test/try, but I have no idea *how* I can change it :)

Where am I doing it currently? In my SetDate data connection. It submits data to my opened excel workbook (opened in a previous step of my rules) using the _vti_bin/excelservice.asmx, function SetCellA1, the parameters sessionID, sheetName and rangeName is no problem. But the parameter tns:cellValue (which should be my input-value!) is set to /my:expenseReport/my:items/my:item/my:date, where "my:item" is my repeating group.

I can't change or edit this value in the UI anywhere... The textbox where the XPath value is shown, is read only...

Re: Repeating group question

When you set the input fields, I'm assuming you are setting fields in a different row in your repeating table/section. To set the correct values you have to use xpath with the count of the table (if you are setting the last item) or the index to the item that you want to set. Are you specifying that when you do the set field in the rule? If not, you will need to add the xpath filter there. Let us know if you need help. We'll probably need to see your form.

Re: Repeating group question

Well, the example in my precious post was pretty much how the form is set up:

I have 3 inputfields: date, starttime, endtime,

I have a couple output fields: total minutes, minutes 20.00-07.00, and so on (a total of 5 fields I think)

Then I have a button: if I click the button, the inputfields are sent to an excel (with the _vti_bin/excelservice.asmx) and the results I get from the excel I put in my 5 result fields.

So for the outputfields I set sessionId, sheetName and rangeName, I query the dataconnection and set the field on my form equal to GetCellA1Result.

For the inputfields, I also set sessionId, sheetName and rangeName, and I add cellValue to that (my actual date, starttime or endtime)

So, Like I mentioned in my earlier post, I figured I had to change something in my input-fields, but I can't figure out exactly where (or how)

Hope this explanation helps?

Re: Repeating group question

Is your repeating group bound to a secondary data source?

Re: Repeating group question

(For some reason, replying to a post results in a messed up text... Sorry bout that, can't seem to find a solution for that either.)

So, I looked around a bit, what happened. Here's a little scenario I tested:

1/ I entered a date in row 1, clicked my calculate-button and got the correct result.
2/ I entered a date in row 2, clicked my button again, but got the same result as in row 1. OK, to be expected. Fine.
3/ I entered a different date in row 1, clicked the button on row 3 and got the result in row 3 which I would expect from a calculation with the date I freshly entered in row 1.

Fine. Incorrect, but fine.

So I started thinking where I should change the XPath and I always seem to come back to the data connection wizard, in my "SetDate" connection. I work with an excel web service, and at a certain moment I have to enter "tns:cellValue", where I think I should put your "current()".
Fine, but the thing is, I can't seem to edit the XPath-value InfoPath gives me. It shows me the value in a read-only textbox.

So, where should I change the XPath?

Re: Repeating group question

Hi Zappke,

This is a common problem when dealing with repeating groups. You need to send the correct fields and your xpath is not correct. Search the forum for current(), preceding-sibling, etc. Or, go to Greg's blogs and search for the repeating table examples,

Thanks!

Repeating group question

Hi,

I have a form where I fill in a begin-time, an end-time and then when I click a button, some calculations are made in excel. The results are shown on my form. Works fine.

This whole setup is in a repeating group. When I click "Add new item", I fill out my begin and end times, I click the button but now the results of my first row are shown in the second (or any subsequent) row.

Anyone got a fix for this problem?

Thanks.
