We have run across this ourselves because we do a lot of uncabbing and recabbing with the CabDotNet library. Apparently InfoPath uses a less effecient compression algorithm to make a CAB file and this is why the package will be a different size. There is no extra header for an XSN - it is exactly the format of a CAB file and can be decompressed by anything that has that ability (i.e. WinRar).

Hope this helps!

Re: Problems creating CAB files

up

Problems creating CAB files

Infopath 2007, MOSS 2007
I have a form template c:\MyTemplate1.xsn, wich I have published as browser-enabled content type to server "http://localhost", and published form is in "c:\PublishedTemplates\MyTemplate1.xsn".
Then I rename "c:\PublishedTemplates\MyTemplate1.xsn" to "c:\PublishedTemplates\MyTemplate1.xsn.zip" and open it with WinRar 3.50. I create CAB file in c:\PublishedTemplates\MyCabFile\MyTemplate1.xsn.zip wich contains all files from "c:\PublishedTemplates\MyTemplate1.xsn.zip" by helping makecab.exe. The problem is that Packet Size of "c:\PublishedTemplates\MyTemplate1.xsn.zip" is 29958, but Packet Size of "c:\PublishedTemplates\MyCabFile\MyTemplate1.xsn.zip" is 29932!!!
Does Infopath create some header or something when it save or published files ???
