It's a little hard to follow specifically but I can understand the problem you're encountering. There should be a way to have InfoPath not duplicate the assessments and people each time. My guess is that your DB structure is more advanced than the out of the box IP connection can figure out on its own.<br /><br />One thing you might try is Access and InfoPath 2007. There is a new feature in Access 2007 which can auto-generate an InfoPath form. I haven't used it but it may help create an InfoPath form which will work properly with your DB structure.

Re: infopath and access.. this should be easy!

Hi Rlschne and welcome to our forum!<br />We advise people to use SQL. If you can use SQL, this is easy to do with our Database Accelerator Web service which handles the foreign key mappings automatically and allows for arbitrary depth. The Dev Edition is free and I would be happy to spend an hour helping you set it up. Send me e-mail.

infopath and access.. this should be easy!

Ok, I had never even heard of info path until the other day... so go easy on me... here is my situation. I am trying to make some tests in info path for training certification and such and submit the results to an access database. I am running into problems with the submit part. My DB setup is very simple - 3 tables: Person, which has name, personnel number, etc. ; next is response which has what the person answered to the questions (option boxes in infopath); and lastly an assessment table that will ideally store the assessment answers. They are related like so: Personnel number (unique) in person to personnel number in response and then assessment id in assessment to assessment Id in response. assessment to response is one to many, and person to response is one to many. here are my problems. I want to have the answers for the test in the assessment table with an assessment ID and that would be it, then using that id in the response table would tie to the correct answers and I can figure out scores and things from that; the only problem is that when submitting, infopoint will try to add a new entry to the assessment table when I have an assessment ID field(for the response table) in the form (duplicate primary key errors). I am not trying to create anything in the assessment table (the testid and answers would already be in it, sort of a lookup table), but i need a relationship there. Also, another problem I forsee is when someone takes more than one test this will also happen with the personell_id and response table, when all i really want to do is say that this person is taking another test, not creating another instance of the person. <br />I hope that was clear enough, I am pretty frustrated with this. Also, if anyone has any other suggestions of how to do this I am open... I have about 60 different tests to run and then must compile all the results to see who passed and failed. Currently this is being done with excel spreadsheets and is absolutely brutal. -Thanks in advance.
