There is a "reconvert main data source" option - did you try that?

When I put the form into MSS it doesn't connect to the DB so, I tried to re-design the form in MSS and re-do the data connections and it won't allow any changes to the "Main" connection - everything is greyed out. I could connect the secondary data connections for the drop downs and they started to work in a fashion. When opening the drop down properties box in design mode, added the secondary data source to populate - it has no "modify" button to set it for ascending order or sql test for me to "select unique".

We did end up with the sharepoint list for some of the fields but you have to manually add each field - but because you can't change the main connection or delete it - its pretty pointless so part of the form worked (but not in ascending order) and the rest of the form can't connect to the database.

sorry its a bit long winded - thanks

Re: infopath 2007, access 2007 & sharepoint

If the form is opening from SharePoint but pulling data from Access DB, make sure that the servers belong to the same domain.

Re: infopath 2007, access 2007 & sharepoint

Thanks Patrick,

I am still using access 2007 for the back end of the forms, all the pc's in my office have office 2007 with infopath installed and on a domain with sharepoint server.

not sure if i want to use browser based forms - not too good at writing code for drop downs etc plus IP2007 is very easy to create new forms based on the same Access DB

regards

Geoff

Re: infopath 2007, access 2007 & sharepoint

Hi Geoff,

Some questions:

Are you still using Access or did you transfer the database to SharePoint's SQL instance, or some other SQL instance on that server?

Are you filling out the form from the SharePoint using a browser-based form (IPFS) or are people still using the InfoPath windows client?

If you are using browser-based forms, you will most likely need to convert your main data connection to be a "UDC" (universal data connection) format. Depending on where your database is located, you may have to set-up accounts to allow IPFS to access that database server.

Best practice is to use a Web Service since it gives you much more flexibility with your data.

Good luck!

I have been using the form on my pc for years with no problems. I have now tried to publish the form to sharepoint so others can use it but the form doesn't work in sharepoint. I have tried to re-route the access data connections by redesigning the form in sharepoint but it can't access the tables. I have imported the tables as lists? and tried to re-design the form. There are over 350 fields in the database and i can't connect to any of them.

How do i publish an access based form to sharepoint and get it to work?

thanks

Geoff
