Between the two of us (I have no development experience) we're trying to create a client front-end to a SQL database. The user will be doing some preliminary work on a Web page, then those values need to be passed to InfoPath to continue.

Before we spend too much time studying the link you provide above, is this the right track for a solution to pass an ASPX parameter to InfoPath?

Thanks!
Deb

Re: infopath input parameter

Hi Gast1234,

You are not impolite and I'm sure your English is better than my skill in speaking your language. :)

Anyway, I think what's missing from the HowTo is the info on how to start the XSN with the merge file:

Here's what the SDK says:

Option Description
/aggregate <form1|form2|form3> <formtemplate> With this option, InfoPath merges the forms in the form list into a single form based on a form template (.xsn). Individual form names in the form list should not be enclosed by quotations, but the entire form list can be enclosed by quotations. The form names must be separated by a "|" (pipe) character. The form template used to perform the merge must also be specified. InfoPath begins the merge by using the default data for the form template.

So, you want to call "infopath /aggregate param.xml form.xsn" where the param.xml contains the "<arg1>ggg</arg1>" stuff and then add the XSL to the form.xsn to handle merging the arg1 parameter on load.

Does that make more sense?

PS> You should take a look at the InfoPath 2003 SDK when you have some spare time. Lots of good advice in that.

Re: infopath input parameter

hi,

sorry, do not excuse I wanted to be impolite. my englich is very bad.
this tutorial explane a methode to validate an xml-file, but is not valide my problem.
i will start an xsn file with parameter in this form test.xsn /param=ggg.

thanks
Re: infopath input parameter

Hi again,

This forum is to help people who have problems or specific challenges with InfoPath. We aren't here to help people learn how to write code. There are numerous books on C# programming (for example, check out "Inside C#" or you can read MSDN).

If you need some specific help, please check out our store. We sell blocks of time for people who need some simple work. You buy the time and we'll help you do the work. Of course, if it's InfoPath-related, please continue using the forum. It's free!

Good luck

Re: infopath input parameter

hallo,

i had test this toturial. but i need code or toturial for c# code.

i hope somebody ccan help me!

thanks

Re: infopath input parameter

hi,

ok thank you!
I try it out times!

thanks

Re: infopath input parameter

Hi again
The schema is a secondary data source in the InfoPath form. You can use Visual Studio, XML Spy, or Notepad to create an XML file that describes the schema and save this as an XSD file (XML Schema Definition) which you add to the solution as a secondary resource file. You don't need any C# code to do it using the transform, but you will to do custom import, which is another technique. I prefer the codeless alternative at the beginning (just using XSL and XSD).

Re: infopath input parameter

hi,

thank you for your answer, but i know this page.
i don't understand the content on this page.

"You will need to define a schema for your parameters.
