You need code. qRules provides a codeless way to do this using either CopyTable or Insert /count (note: both links show how to do this with SharePoint lists and main data source, but it's easy to apply the same techniques to copy from a table in a secondary or main data source to another table in the main data source.

qRules trial is free. Click on the ad below to download or read more about it. Of course, we'd also be happy to do an hour of consulting for you but you'll end up with a specific solution. qRules is generic and can be used over and over again with all of your forms. There's 40 common features that everyone asks for bundled in one library.

Disclaimer: Qdabra Software provides InfoPathDev forum for free. Our goal is to reply to 90% of all posts. By selling very inexpensive tools like qRules we help subsidize the cost of this forum. qRules is great for you because it saves you time and money.

How to prefill a repeating table from another repeating table

I have a form which is used in stages.

Stage 1 - user enters a heap of data, including many groups each with text, repeating tables and photo attachments.

Stage 2 - user updates data.... I need to use all Stage 1 data to prefill the form when starting Stage 2. All data from stage 2 (including additions / deletions / changes) are to be kept in separate groups in the main data source of the form (so stage 1 info can always be seen as it was).

When I switch to the stage 2 view, I use "rules" to set the stage 2 field values with stage 1 data, but the repeating tables do not populate with all the stage 1 entries.

how do I prefill a repeating table with data from another repeating table?
