I downloaded the files, ok, but now?!?!
The caching thing I start reading tonight or tomorrow. I've read in the past that isnt a way, and it looks like not much has changed. If a user has the form on there desktop they can right click and go into design mode , I need to avoid this. I know originally Infopath was suppose to be able to only use the "fill out a form" option on install. But i dont think it ever made it into the deployed version. Is there a way to lock users out?

Re: Block developing mode in published Form

Also, for a newbie you are really delving into an advanced topic "preceeding::sibling". That's great! It sounds like what you're looking for is help on custom XPATH functions. Try the "References" area in our "Resources" page for a pointer to XPATH, XSLT and other more advanced topics.

Re: Block developing mode in published Form

Hi Millie and welcome!
Please let us know which examples are problematic and we will update them to make them better.

Re: Block developing mode in published Form

Shiraz I have to tell you that for a newby in XML, XPath, Infopath a.s.o. the help isn´t really good, or better: kind of missing important things.
For example practical advice or how-to-dos. Or the really important feature "preceding-sibling". I´ve searched a lot, no chance. (I´m searching in German and tried the englisch word an a hundreds of possible translations)
This I think would help a lot.

But I ´m in fact very happy and thankful that I´ve found this forum here. Here I found answers to nearly all my questions, also in the archiv.
The only thing I have problems with are Gregs code-Examples :-)
(still struggling with the fully editable list box)

Millie

Re: Block developing mode in published Form

The help in InfoPath is pretty good, if you know what terms to use to ask the question. Of course that's not going to work for all the new concepts. :) Hang in there. InfoPath is a complex new product with several new conecepts very foreign to desktop applications. Our forums are here to help you get on your feet to enjoying InfoPath. Cheers! :)

Re: Block developing mode in published Form

Thanks a lot you two!!
I´m getting more and more desperate about my "infopath-Project"
in fact I´m feeling quite left alone by MS INfopath, because eyery problem/question I have I only find answers here or in the net - and not in the help of Infopath :-(

Millie

Re: Block developing mode in published Form

1.
