This should happen automatically when you make changes in designer and resave/republish to your local machine location. The setting is in the Tools::Form Options dialog. If the updated XSN isn't a higher version number it may not get picked up by InfoPath when just opening XML files.

Issue updating xsn files on local computer

Hello Everyone !

I am facing an issue while updating the xsn files on a local computer.

I am writing an application which runs on the user's computer. It uses few xsn templates to allow the user to fill in some Infopath forms. Those xsn are copied in a specific directory when the msi of the Application is launched.

The issue comes when updating those xsn. To update them, we have made a new msi that overwrites the old version of the xsn files with the new one. Everything seems fine until a xml file is double clicked. The file is opened with the old xsn. The new one has to be double clicked to be used by InfoPath when opening an xml file.

My question is : how to avoid to have the user to double click each new xsn file ?

By the way, the xsn are first published on my development machine in a local directory. When the msi of my application is generated, they are taken from this folder.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yann.
