I have a drop-down on a repeating table that based on the selection popluates 6 other fields in the table. this works fine. But when I insert a new row no matter what I choose in the drop-down it populates the same information as the row above it. Any Ideas????

Re: Repeating Table from a drop down list

I have a very similar scenario that I am trying to complete. I followed the instructions in the great tutorial http://infopathdev.com/howto/tutorials/default.aspx?i=075c4e8e56db4fa5bd63615b712c0d91), but I'm stuck in one place.

I'm trying to allow the user to create a list of courses that they want to take, choosing from a course list maintained on a SharePoint List.

My form has a repeating table with two DDL's data connected to a simple SharePoint list, with the left most DDL (Category) filtering what appears in my second column (Title).

I was able to make the unique filtering of Category work (thanks again for the great tutorials)--(my unique filter looks like this: not(. = ../preceding::dfs:SAP_Training_Courses/@Category).

THE PROBLEM
However my Title DDL keeps displaying data from previous selections as I insert rows on my repeating table. I'm guessing this has something to do with my use of the current() XPath function, but can't for the life of me figure out just what the issue is. I created a rule on the Category column that supposedly clears the Title DDL, but again, I'm doing something wrong.

Re: Repeating Table from a drop down list

Ok, your data filter on the second repeating table will be something like this:

ColA = dropDownSelectA AND
ColB = dropDownSelectB

To obtain the cascading drop-down to limit the choices in the dropDownSelectB, check out this tutorial:
<br /http://infopathdev.com/howto/tutorials/default.aspx?i=4e038a7f3f5b443bbe4db49f86d95fba
Re: Repeating Table from a drop down list

Let me try to explain my schema...

In my sharepoint list...I have a list that shows the columns. In my first repeating table, I have two drop down list. The two drop down list is retreiving information from Column A and Column B. My second repeating table has a text box only which retrieves information from Column C.

How I want the form to work is, when I select a unique value from column A and column B it should automatically populate value into the text box in the second repeating table. For instance...Column A has values, Basketball, Football, Baseball, etc. When I go to column B, I select values that relates to what I selected in Column A. If it's Basketball, then it give me a unique list to choose from such as point guard, or power forward, etc. Now if I select point guard, then in the second repeating table, it should auto populate the names of the point guards, such as Tom and Bill.

Sharepoint Looks like this:
Column A                  Column B                  Column C
Basketball                Point Guard               Tom
Basketball                Point Guard               Bill
Basketball                Power Forward             Derek
Basketball                Power Forward             Matt
Football                  Quarterback               Tim
Football                  Quarterback               Peter
Football                  Wide Receiver             Thomas
Baseball                  Pitcher                   Will
Baseball                  Pitcher                   Jeff
Baseball                  Outfielder

Re: Repeating Table from a drop down list

Hello Brother Tang, and welcome to the forum!

You should be able to do this with a data filter on the second repeating table. The data filter will be something to the effect of:

Show all rows where B = A.

I know this sounds really simple, but I don't know how to explain it in more detail without a little more knowledge on your schema. If you provide the schema for both SharePoint lists I will be able to compose a more exact data filter. Hope this helps!

Repeating Table from a drop down list

Hi,

I have two repeating tables set up on my form. The first repeating table has a dropdown list "A." The second repeating table has a textbox "B." Both are connected to a datasource in Sharepoint. In Sharepoint, "A" has values 1, 2, 3 which are unique, meaning there are 1,1,1, 2,2,2, 3,3,3, which i made unique to only show each once on the drop down list. Now "B" has values that are associated with "A", for example, 1,1,1 has values A, B, C, 2,2,2 has values D,E,F, etc.

My question is, when i preview the form, I select value 1, from the drop down list in the first repeating table and on the second repeating table I want it to show me values A, B, and C. The problem I'm having is that it only shows me the first value, which is A. How can I make the table repeat to get it to show A, B, and C? Thanks a bunch and sorry for the long story...I don't know how to explain it any other way.
