Can you open a form published locally? What version of SharePoint do you have? Can you save the template.xsn file to your desktop and try double clicking on it? What happens? If you get the same error, rename it as a cab and use winzip to extract the files. Open the xsf and make sure it is well-formed XML.

Re: Infopath error on server

Yes, the sample forms generate the same error.

Re: Infopath error on server

You mean the sample forms that were shipped with InfoPath?

Re: Infopath error on server

Another point I wanted to make is that Infopath on this server will not open any forms, even the built in templates. To fix this problem, you should just go the the SharePoint form library. Click modify settings and columns. Click on Edit Template to open the form in the InfoPath Designer. No, add a space somewhere in the view and delete it - to make save update. Type ctrl-S to save the form template back to the server. Make sure there are no errors. If there are errors, simply try to save it again. Sometimes it takes a few attempts if there is network trouble. Now, go back and try to open the XML file.

If you still have a problem, it must be because the solution is corrupted in some way. You can try to extract the files in the XSN by renaming the extension CAB and using WinZip to extract and then open up the XSF and see what is inside it.

Good luck!

Re: Infopath error on server

Well, neither unistalling and reinstalling Office 2003 or installing SP2 fixed the problem. I've concluded that this is either a server issue, or a remote session issue. We are going to rebuilt the server and go from there.

Re: Infopath error on server

Good luck. However some other employess have to access it from a server because they are not in the office. Both involves going to the exact same site on SharePoint and using the exact same Infopath form.
