I need to send an email under the covers without user intervention. Corporate Security requires a hidden email message be sent to the user to notify the user that a request has been made in his/her behalf. This is deemed necessary by the security folks and auditors, just in case person A logs on as Person B and requests services posing as Person B. The theory goes, that if Person B gets notified, then he/she can call the support desk. Also, users are very lazy and don't want to waste time clicking and confirming emails, it makes for extra clicks, and they are very busy and don't need to do more clicks that the system can do for them already.

I have tried a custom submit with the email adapter, but this still requires user intervention.

Has anybody tried anything else, like using blat.exe?

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks

Re: Email confirmation box before emailing the form

what exactly is your need for the user not to be notified

Re: Email confirmation box before emailing the form

It is not possible to send emails in JSript without showing the Email dialog.
If you are anyway using outlook to send emails, you cannot really obstruct user from seeing recipient list, he can actually see them in his sent items.

Agni
INFOPATHdev India

Re: Email confirmation box before emailing the form

I'm not sure if you can submit e-mails without the user's knowledge, but this thread explains how to send e-mails with JScript:
<br /http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1529

The reason you can't send e-mails without the user's knowledge is because InfoPath hooks into Outlook when it does this and the e-mail looks like it is coming from the User. Without the confirmation box, you could effectively "forge" e-mails. At least, that is my understanding of it.

---------------
Matt Faus
InfoPath Dev Texas
Re: Email confirmation box before emailing the form

Thanks for the feedback. Yes i am using email data connection here to send out the alert messages.Infact i use the sharepoint data connection to submit the actual form. The email is just triggered to few people notifying them that a form has been submitted in the form submission event.

Is it possible to achieve - having this email sent out without the user's knowledge using js code, and without using Email data connection. Has anybody done this before. Any input highly appreciated.

Re: Email confirmation box before emailing the form

If you are using Email dataconnection then there is no way you can avoid this dialog.

Only other way is directly contact your "smptp" server through the code.
