You can't show InfoPath's dialog but you can show the Windows Common Save As dialog. I'm curious about your scenario though, because I generally recommend against putting save buttons in the form. I belive that what is does is cause users to form bad habits and not really learn the InfoPath paradigm for forms. It acts as a crutch and users don't get the early lesson that InfoPath is a rich-client standalone application which works similar to Word but with form structure. That said there are some very specific situations where I think having the button is ok which is why I'd love to know more about your specific situation.

The link to the HowTo is:<br /http://www.infopathdev.com/howto/tutorials/default.aspx?i=3604c87845664a19bcad1480dab420b9

Thanks, Shiraz
Re: Showing Save Dialog

Hi Patrick

Thanks for your reply. I had a pretty exhaustive look through, and no, it doesn't seem to be in there, unfortunately. Maybe InfoPath 12 will help more...

- John

Re: Showing Save Dialog

Hi John,
I don't think this functionality is exposed in the object model. You'll want to review the SDK, but I'm 90% sure.

Patrick Halstead [InfoPath MVP]
InfoPathDev

Showing Save Dialog

Hi everyone

I'm trying to do something which I would think relatively simple: I'm trying to show the Save dialog from a button sitting on my form.

I've found a lot of information saying that it's impossible to call the Save or SaveAs methods of the XDocument object from non-fully-trusted forms (this one is Domain trust), but I would have expected to be allowed to show the dialog box, thus putting the user in control of what happens. (This, after all, is how CAS policy for file saving works in .NET on the Internet security level!)

Is there a separate API call involved in this, or is it just not possible?

Thanks

- John
