Currently, using rules in the first check box, I get the second check box (in the optional, repeating group) to match the status of the first , but only by opening the optional, repeating group, then going back to the first check box, and “re-checking” it. While this provides the desired result in the second check box, it is not how the user needs to use the form. Also, when it works, the second check box matches the first for every instance of the repeating group. It needs be limited to just the first instance.

I’ve attempted to limit the check box in the optional, repeating group to activate only in the first instance by adding a condition in the rule that looks to see if a separate, whole integer counting field = 1. (This whole integer field documents for the user which instance they are in) This does not seem to work.

1. Is there a way to activate a checkbox in an optional, repeating group based on the status of a checkbox in another group?

2. Is there a smart way to get this second checkbox to match the first for only the first instance of the repeating group?
