I have this weird problem that I don't know how to tackle. I have a form library with dozens of promoted columns for hundreds of forms already submitted, and a form template that is used by that library. I updated the form template and added a few more columns in form option's promotion property. When I publish the form template, these new columns are created in the library without problem. But, they are not automatically populated based on existing forms' data. I know that sometimes it automatically populates newly promoted columns, but sometimes it doesn't, and I don't know why and how to manage this. I tried to create columns in the library first and then promoted them via secondary data source to fields in the form template. Still didn't help, the columns are empty after I publish the template.

I know that I can relink the forms and it does help, but I don't want to pursue that route, because the Modified By and Modified column will be changed, which is not desired. Besides, doing this for hundreds of forms everytime you add a new promoted column is not productive either.

Did anybody face this problem? Do I need to do something in different way when I publish it? Please help if you know anything about this issue. It's really annoying when you get empty columns like this.

Thank you!
