I am working with InfoPath 2003, this sounds like it exactly what I have been trying to do for a few days now in fact thats the total amount of exposure to infopath I have.

Hilary Stoupa:

Your secondary data connection will have query fields and data fields. Add a rule (on form load, for example) that sets the query field to the userName() function. Then, add another rule action that executes the query. Does that make sense?

Re: GetUserProfileByName parameters tied to InfoPath field

Your secondary data connection will have query fields and data fields. I have been fighting with this issue all for several weeks and it is now the last issue standing in my way of deploying this new Infopath form.
I have a browser based form that has a contact selector control on it. What I would like to have happen is to have the person filling out the form select someone from the contact selector. Once this is done I would like to refresh a data connection using GetUserProfileByName where the value for the parameter is linked to the AccountID field returned by the contact selector. This way I can retrieve the AD information for the selected user and fill in the information about this person as needed.
