If you must use a regular textbox I would suggest having a hidden rich text box that you copy the content from the regular textbox into. Then, transform using the rich text box, not the regular. This way you can translate formating characters (such as line breaks) from InfoPath to Word - the regular textbox has no text formating characters.

---------------
Matt Faus
Re: transforming memo field to wordml

Hi Patrick,

Thanks for the reply. Actually I'm not using rich text control at all, just a plain text box. The thing I don't understand is if I have the following text:

line 1
line 2
line 3

and when it transform into word, it just displays "line 1line 2line 3". No line break.

Any other suggestion of what I should do next?

Thank you,
Howard

Re: transforming memo field to wordml

Hi Howard and welcome to our forum,
My guess is that you will have to strip out the LF characters in the rich text from the XHTML field. This has been discussed before. Try to search on LF/CR and XHTML. I think the Microsoft blog might also have some info.

Patrick Halstead [InfoPath MVP]
InfoPathDev

transforming memo field to wordml

Hello,

Hoping someone could give me a hand please. I have a text box that accepted multiple line of text and when a user press a button it transforms that text into a word document. Everything is working fine except if there is a line break, it just transform into a single line. Any code on how to solve this or information that I should look into?

Thank you,
Howard.
