Great question! Well, my guess is that this won't work because OnSaveRequest is called as a result of Save or SaveAs. Hence, calling SaveAs from OnSaveRequest would result in an infinite loop. Think Samba! :) Also, note that SaveAs is level 3 which means "in Full Trust do we trust". Have fun!

Patrick Halstead [InfoPath MVP]
InfoPathDev

OnSaveRequest and use of SaveAs

Hi.

I know from the MS article <a href='http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/odc_ip2003_ta/html/odc_InfoPath_extending_save.asp' target='_blank' title='http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/odc_ip2003_ta/html/odc_InfoPath_extending_save.asp'http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/odc_ip2003_ta/html/odc_InfoPath_extending_save.asp that thisXDocument.SaveAs cannot be used within the extension of the Save event - OnSaveRequest.

But there is no explaination as to why. Can anyone explain why this is so?

Thanks. Scott.
