So I'm re-framing my question this way.

When some one opens a form in a document library, it opens in this way

But what I want is, Whne he clicks the link in document library to open the form it should directly open in the portal with in the content page as any webpart like this,

Can this be done?

Re: Can we open an infopath form in document library directly in a portal?

I think the second pic is not the correct one what I intended to show, this pic would be more relevant

Re: Can we open an infopath form in document library directly in a portal?

Lemme explain it this way. But what I want is that form should fit in the portal that is with all the top tabs, left menus and all that. Something like, the master page should remain the same and the form should be the content page. I understand that there are two ways to open a form when using SharePoint:

1. In the browser (Internet Explorer), using IPFS.

2. In the client, i.e. Microsoft Office InfoPath.

I'm not sure what is the portal that you mention.

Re: Can we open an infopath form in document library directly in a portal?

Yes, Normally when we open the form it opens in complete browser.
