Template Parts - Using the owssvr.dll for my XML Document Data Connection

Has anyone tried to use a owssvr.dll url for the receive data connection in a template part? The connection works great in the template part (as should), but when I try to add the control to a form template none of the controls or data connections are copied over to the form. It appears that the schema for this xml connection is too complex to copy over to the form template.

For instance, try creating an XML document receive connection using somethig similiar to this: http://<SharePointSite>/_vti_bin/owssvr.dll?Cmd=Display&List={<SharePoint List GUID>}&XMLDATA=TRUE

It creates and the data previews like it should in the Template Part. But, if you add the the Template Part control to a Form Template it does not work. Has anyone found a solution to this issue?
