What I think you did was to publish as a content type from within InfoPath and chose your Forms Library for housing it. You don't want to do that. You house the form template in a separate doc lib that will be full of all your templates. You add them to your Forms Library as content types the way I described above.

Re: Need Advice on How to Accomplish Something

Hmm... whenever I try to publish a form as a specific content type to a document library to test your method, it doesn't add the document to the "New" menu. It simply uploads the document template into the list of documents in the library. If I click on that template then I get a new instance of it.

Any idea why it is behaving in this way?

Re: Need Advice on How to Accomplish Something

I don't know that you need a page, but you definitely would want to consider making each separate InfoPath form into a content type, then add each content type to a single Forms Library. User would then click the New menu down arrow, select the relevant content type, then get prompted with the proper form template for the doc they want to create.

I don't know a way to automatically convert something to PDF, though.

Need Advice on How to Accomplish Something

I am hoping someone could give me some advice on how to best accomplish what I am trying to do. Thank you in advance.

What I Have:

Several InfoPath forms that take user input, populate a canned letter with that input, covert the output to PDF, and upload that PDF to another document library. These InfoPath forms exist in several discreet categories.

What I Want to Do:

I would like to create a "landing page" (for lack of a better term) so that a user can navigate to a SharePoint page and choose the document needed from a drop-down list (or some other method). Upon selection of the document (or clicking of a "Submit" button) a new instance of the selected InfoPath form would be launched.

What I Need to Know:

What would be the best way to go about this? Should I build a basic HTML page and then use a iframe in the SharePoint site? Can I do this natively through SharePoint? Could I create a InfoPath form that would display in a web page and do all this for me?

Thank you again!
