I used InfoPath 2003 to create a forum that has 4-5 fields that I would like to represent as columns on my SharePoint site. This is all working fine, BUT only in the form library in which the form template is published. I have access to do whatever I want with the InfoPath form data, but I want to publish that data and use the columns in a different form library. I am looking to do this to protect the data from everyone.

Configuration:

One form library for everyone to access and fill out the form

Another form library for the submissions (shows the columns from the InfoPath form)

As of right now the only way I can get access to the data is from the publishing library where the template is located. Does anyone have any ideas how to do this (preferrably without code or designer as I do not have access to the actual SharePoint machine, only the site).

**UPDATE**

It looks like what I am trying to do can be accomplished using InfoPath 2007. However, I can not run this version on the network I am on. This link provides exactly what I want to do:

http://www.marclenferna.com/blog/archive/2009/01/18/how-to.-publish-your-infopath-form-to-sharepoint--a.aspx

In this walk-through it mentions to deploy the InfoPath solution as a content type for the site. Using this information and searching more online provided me with this link:

http://www.codeproject.com/KB/sharepoint/publishingtemplates.aspx

This is a complete walk-through to manually add a custom content type for my SharePoint site. This does everything I want EXCEPT mapping the InfoPath fields to my SharePoint columns. I am at a loss as to how to add these columns. It would be helpful to know what InfoPath is actually doing to make that happen. I need to avoid a custom coding solution as much as possible considering I have no true access (aside from the site) to the SharePoint. And to state again, I am using InfoPath 2003 which does not seem to provide a solution for publishing custom content types.

**UPDATE**

I have solved the issue with a simple solution. To get the fields to map to columns within the SharePoint, you would have to deploy the form template to that said form library. If you didn't then those columns would not be available. In my case I felt it would be acceptable to publish the form to both areas (the form repo and the submissions repo) so that I could take advantage of the columns. I then configured the form in the repo to do postings to the submissions library. I was able to properly lock down the submissions area and have it display the content I wanted. At the end of the day this solution works, but will require too updates to the form if any changes are made. This is not preferred, but given the environment and versions of software, it seems to be the only way.
