I have an infopath form where I am publishing to a document library. In this library I have forms that have been submitted by users of two types, though it is the same form. One is the master record, there can be zero to many trailer or companion records. In the infopath form I would like to be able to have an admin type view, where I can let the user enter the name of the master record, and it would retrieve certain pieces of data from that record in the document form library, and prefill this data in the trailer or companion infopath form.

I was able to set the receive data connection to my document form library. And I could see where I could retrieve many columns worth of data. But when I used this data connection in my form as the value to say a text box, it was only retrieving data for the last infopath form that was submitted to the library. So i thought to add a filter, based upon a user entered value for the name of the record to match my unique identifier in the library, but it yelled at me and told me I could not filter this piece of data the way I wanted.

Why did it yell at me, and how can I accomplish this without coding?
