However, you certainly can do this the way you propose -- the drop down control can hold your list of vendors and be bound to the main data source. The repeating table can be bound to the ShP data source. Conditional formatting on the repeating table to hide rows if the vendor from the ShP list doesn't match the vendor in the field in the main data source which is bound to the drop down list....

InfoPath form, retrieve portion of SharePoint list

Hello,

Working on a new form that depending on what is selected from a drop-down list, will filter and return (a repeating table?) rows from a SharePoint list.

Basically, users are cutting/pasting an Excel table into a Word document. I want to create a rich InfoPath form (lock it down from editing, host it on SharePoint, workflows etc.) and then when users select the drop-down, the table populates with the necessary rows from the SharePoint master list.

I believe I've seen/read about this demo'd in a Vendor/Products scenario. User selects a vendor, and the products from that vendor are returned.

My question is what are the basics needed on my InfoPath form? Obviously a drop-down control, a repeating table, some sort of data connection to the SharePoint list. Then filter based on whats selected from the drop-down control to the returned table/rows?

Thanks,

Brian
