Do you absolutely need to store the archived records outside of SharePoint?

For instance, you can have your forms archived automatically by using the "Information Management Policy Settings" option in the Settings area of your form library. You have the option to send to record center once a certain expiration date is reached (providing you have Sharepoint 2007 Standard edition and have the records center set up). If you don't have Sharepoint Standard, you can create a workflow in SharePoint Designer to move these items to another SharePoint library with the settings configured to display in the forms in a web page. Both of these scenarios will then allow your users to open the form in a web browser instead of in the client application.

Open Infopath form without having Infopath

So I have craeted about 10 infopath forms. Due to the amount of forms that there will be, they want the option to archive them after so much time. The team I created them for can access the forms and fill them out just fine from changing the settings to open in browser. The issue I am running into tho...is that I told them they can easily archive by going into the Form Library and view in Windows Explorer View, and just do cut and paste to where ever they want to archive. The problem is after you move them, if they don't have the app on there machine, it won't open. When I try to open it, regardless if I try NotePad, XML Editor or anything, it always opens in the application. Is there a way to make them default to open in IE???

Thanks very much
