One way is add a boolean field to the schema with default value to false and make that field true after the submitting the mail. Means you have set the Boolean field value to true as the next action in the rule where you are submitting the mail. And add a conditional formatting to the buttons that the expression you are using now to hide/show buttons and if the Boolean field is true.

Data Validation Using Rules (IP 2003)

Hi All,

Is there a way of doing a full form validation using rules on a button? Preferably with a custom error message? I dont like the "Some Rules were not applied"

This is for a submit button (Submit to email and sharepoint) but I can't use the "Submit" function as I want to use Rules AND Form code and submit will only do one or the other. I also can't put the validation in code as the code runs after rules and the validation needs to be before.

Many Thanks

J

PS If you are wondering why I am doing this, we have a problem with people clicking on Cancel (after submit) when the email message pops up. This stops the rules but by this point the status field on the form has changed and the form now shows an approve button which the submitter shouldnt see. I have got round this by having a line in code that changes the status back after the rules have stopped running - this hides the approve button and shows submit.
