I don't understand why the formula you are using doesn't work, or how it doesn't work. Can you please tell me what results you get from that formula?

For example, if I use that fomula in an expression box on a form, I get the result:

daily status report - 2008-12-04

Now, I don't know off hand if a '-' is allowed in a file name on SharePoint. You may want to test by trying using a static file name with a '-' in it. If it isn't, you'll want to use the translate function to remove the '-' from today.

concat("Status report ", translate(today(), "-", ""))

for example. I hope that helps....

Re: Please help! That is, are you getting a file name, just not the one you expected? Can you try using a static value for testing in the file name and verify that the form submits correctly? Does the name have any characters that SharePoint doesn't accept?

Sometimes I put an expression box on the form with the same formula I am using for file name so that I can see the results of my formula before submitting, that can help with troubleshooting.

Please help! I am a newbie to infopath but pick it up quickly. I have a form and integrated it to work with SharePoint 2003 portal. Basically a form will be submitted to the SharePoint library. What i could not get to work was the concat(..., today()) stuff. I wanted to be able to name the file as Daily Status Report - Date but somehow it never worked. I've used the fx function to insert the form and etc but still unable to get the form to generate the filename + date.

any help is much appreciated!!!
