I dont know all the particulars, licensing etc, but I would start with looking in that direction.

Re: .Net integrations w/ Infopath

We are not going to have access to a sharepoint server. also our application is a Fat Client app. The data is stored by the client. We need to be able to

Load the Form
Allow the user to populate it
Capture the data when it is complete.

It seems that if MS is not going to allow a host control w/o Office installed, we will need to look elsewhere for a forms engine.

My goal was to put an easy to use Form generator in the hands of our super users, so the common users can use the forms for data entry.

Currently only developers can create the forms needed using IBM forms. The implementation is a kludge, because they are only hosted in a brower window.

Our current application uses IBM workplace forms, I am less than impressed.

Ideally I could create the form in Infopath. Then host the form in some sort of .net control. When the user completes the form, the form is persisted in a way the application can capture the data for storage/integration into the current app's datamodel.

It appears from the MSDN, MS supports this in Infopath 2007, however ALL users are expected to to have Infopath 2007 installed. This is not reasonable for us, because we cannot control how our end user machines will be configured. We have over 25,000 workstations at over 100 locations wordwide. Is MS planning on releasing a "Host" component that can be used without a local installation of Infopath ?
