I am wondering what the best way is for auto populating fields in a main data connection (SQL Server 2005) with values from secondary data connections (SQL Server 2005). The fields from the secondary connections have many rows (some over 30K) and because of this I need to lessen the amount of rows in a control like a dropdown list box.

Here are the methods that I have studies so far.

Method 1: Populating Fields After Selection With Search.

Method 2: Populating Fields in main sql connection from filtering drop down lists connected to the secondary connection fields.

I would prefer method 1 over method 2. My understand is the for method 1 to work, some coding is needed that effects the onclick event handler. Is this method the best way? If so, can anyone provide me with the code that would do this?

Here are the details of the form.

Main Data Connection: SQL Server 2005, Database is called "InfoPath". The table within the database is called ".dbo.Task List".

Secondary Data Connection: SQL Server 2005, Database is called "Person". The table within the database is called "dbo.Person".

Secondary Data Connection: SQL Server 2005, Database is called "Matter". The table within the database is called "dbo.Matter".

The goal: A user would type in a name and click a "Find" button which would search the secondary data connection table and auto populate the appropriate main data connection fields.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.
