I have the issue that I asked about earlier resolved and now have another question.

I have two fields that are bound to different controls. In the first field, there is a simple list to choose from and there's no problem there. But in the second field, I want the data source to be different depending on what was selected in the first field, so I set up a rule that says when a certain value is selected in the first field, use a particular XML file as the data source for this field, but the rule doesn't fire when I preview the form and it just grabs the data from the main data source specified in the second field.

Re: InfoPath 2003 error message

Hi Clay,

Thank you. The document is being published to a network file share. I've checked the permissions on the template and everyone has access. I will also check the security for IE.

Thank you again for this information and I will keep you posted on what happens.

A document retains a link to the location the template was published and expects it to be there.

Are you publishing to a network file share or web server?

The security is all handled by IE. You would want to make sure the server hosting the template is in the intranet or trusted security zone.

Obviously check the permissions on the template, everyone who uses documents would need read permissions on the form, and in a file share scenario, I believe need write permissions in the folder that is is located in. I think I remember something about that at some point, so maybe worth a try.

Lastly, make sure they are accessing it the way it was published. Make sure you are using the publishing wizard to deploy the form, not just copying the xsn out there. Have a local copy and publish the form to its network or web location.

During the publishing process you will specifyy how the users will access the template. htttp://... or at \\server\share etc. I have seen where people have various mapped drives or access ti different ways and this will not work either. It will only work the way it was published.

You can cleanup the XML files manually and with notepad either change the link or look at how the old forms were accessing the form. It is in the header of the XML.

Good Luck

InfoPath 2003 error message

Hi,

I'm very new to InfoPath and trying to learn very quickly. One of our departments created a couple of forms that users fill out and then submit. What the users do before submitting the form is save a copy of it to their shared drive to access at a later time.

The problem: We've made updates to the form and then published again. Since then the users have been getting the following message when trying to open up the saved forms on their shared drives.

Insufficient Security Privilege

This form cannot be opened because it requests domain security level and is only allowed restricted security level. Based on the information in the form, the file should be at file:///\\.............xsn in order to open the with the correct security level.

The new form was published back to the exact same place and the only thing that was done to the form was to add some names to some of the drop-down lists. We've made sure that everyone has access to the form and even tried putting the original form back with no luck at all.

I have it on the best aurthority that you all are the best at what you do. Can someone help with this nightmare?

Thanks,
