This should work for you. Once you have the handle to the XDocument of the other form, you can code to it just the same as you do the XDocument of your current form. So if you want to copy a value from one XDocument to the other, that's no problem.

Re: Can you copy an attachment from one form to another?

hi Greg, yes it is all written in the vbscript in the code behind. If so, the call to open will return a handle to an XDocument to the new form, and you can write code to copy the attachment value from the current form into the new form using the returned XDocument handle.

Can you copy an attachment from one form to another?

We have a situation where, on our journal posting workflow we want a copy of the infopath form AND a copy of the attachment. Journal posting workflows always have an excel attachment but if the posting needs to be reversed all the detail in the infopath is the same except the attachment needs to show -ive values instead of +ive ones.

So we have a button to "copy this form" and a new instance of the infopath is created with all fields filled in as before... is there an easy way to copy the excel attachment to the new copy (the values in this would be amended by a macro within the form). Obviously the work around is just for the user to save the attachment somewhere else then re-attach to the new form, but it would be nicer if the whole thing (infopath and excel) was copied on the new instance.

Would be grateful for any help on this please !!
