You have to think of this a bit different.

You have loaded the data in your form so you need conditional formating on your repeating table that hides everything but what matches the search terms.

So maybe ID != searcID field hide

Obviously this is not real efficient if you have lots of records since thay all must be loaded and filtered within your form.

Best practice would be to have the records in a backend system like SQL and then use web services to dynamically query based on the lookup from the user and just return the records that match. I believe this was kind of your thinking on this.

With webservices you escape the limitations of the standard database type form and can have multiple dynamic queries and submits without code.

Search box

Hi, I am not sure where to put this, so if the mods think it needs moving, please do so.

I am just starting to play around with InfoPath and Sharepoint.

So far I am able to use a repeating-table that lists all the data I choose it to.

What I would like is for there to be a search box at the top, which say the user puts in a ID number, this searches the database and return in controls below, data, such as a surname.

Is this possible? I am playing around with rules and actions on buttons but can't come up with anything.

Thanks in advance

Tom
