What about using a SQL backend and then having InfoPath update SQL and Visio map from the SQL data?

InfoPath and VISIO

I am exploring ways to create or manipulate a VISIO diagram based on InfoPath selections. I did a search on the forum and google but I could only find items remotely related to it.

Abstract (very):

1) The xml from InfoPath stores various elements i.e., Component = Monitor

2) Based on the data selected, a particular VISIO shape is selected, i.e., if Component = Monitor then place in Monitor shape.

3) Open VISIO via a button or link to create/view the VISIO shape.

Yea, I know, extremely abstract. I was wondering has anything similar been done like this before? BTW, this is VISIO and InfoPath 2003.

Thanks.
