I think the easiest way to explain this is that when you publish your form to a library it retains a local copy thet it registers internally as template.xsn. If you need to change this file you need to go into 'modify settings and columns' and click 'Edit Template'.

Make your changes and then that works fine.

The behaviour is, I believe, due to the SharePoint registration process that all form libraries adhere to.

I hope this has been of help

Cheers

Upgrading Activated Form

Hi,

When I publish a InfoPath 2007 form from Visual Studio and then activate that form to a site collection in Central Admin everything works good. Promoted fields appear on the form library when I use the template as a content type on that form lib.

However, if I then make a change (add a promoted field) in Visual Studio and re-publish the form that new promoted field does not appear on the form library template.

The only way I can get them to appear is to delete the form library and recreate it and re-publish the template. This doesn't work very well as any workflows on the library have to be reconfigured also.

How do I get newly promoted fields to appear on previously published templates?
