I think between us we have come up with some kind of answer :-)

By not naming it the same thing the local templates could not update, kind of makes sense

Thanks for that, though the new form had a different name and urn at first....I assumed that might be the problem as the cached file couldnt find a more upto date version of the template - hence me renaming / and re-doing the urn of the new one to match the old one

Re: Old forms opening instead of new one

Hi

Effectively, at least as far as I understand it, when a user opens a form for the first time it caches the form locally and references the template. If your form is called the same thing it will not be able to distinguish between the old form library and the new one. I thnik best practice would be to Change the name at the same time, that way InfoPath knows it is not the same form.

Cheers

Old forms opening instead of new one

Hi All,

I created a new form and put it in a form libarary a few months ago. Recently I was asked to make some changes to the form so I created a new library and changed the url on our intranet link to point to the new form library.

However, a large percentage of the people that had used the old form before, when they click on the link it opens the old form up and not the new. I think i may have fixed it, what i have done is changed the URN on the new form to match the old one, and also in the old form library I published the new form to it (using the trick to allow publishing of more then one form to a library so that they old ones still open).

Should i expect any problems with what i have done? is there a better way of doing it? I have a feeling this is to do with the form being cached on the local machine, but with hundreds of user non technical users affected I didnt want to ask them to remove the form from the Cache.

Anyone got any thoughts on the above?

Thanks
