Usernames would also not be helpfull as the people for who the forms are created do not fill them out.

It will (or at least should) work like that: A User logs in to the wss/formsserver and fills out several forms for several people. He should not have to concern about which form is needed for a person, so they should be generated bevor and have a "friendly name". The user then just has to log in, go to a doc lib and sees all docs he has to fill out.

Re: Generating Forms from FormTemplate

Hi M_at_S and welcome to our forum!
Why not just have some OnLoad code that calls your database and prepopulates the data based on Active Directory username or something? You can check to see if the form is new when they open it and only call the prepopulation if it is first time creation.

Re: Generating Forms from FormTemplate

yes, I want to automate the process. Loading a template, filling in some data from a db and saving it to a doc lib.

In the meantime I tried the WinForms Infopath Control and it worked. But if possible I would prefer doing it with asp.net. (either with the xmlformview or perhaps the OM can manage it?!)

Maybe my english is just not precise enough: There are x people and y templates. My aim is to generate (automatically) one form per template and person. So if a new template is published, I want to create, (partially) fill out and save a form based on the template for each person.

Re: Generating Forms from FormTemplate

Are you attempting to automate the process? If not, I don't understand your scenario. It should be straight forward to load the template, fill in the form, and save it using Save or Save As from the File menu.

Generating Forms from FormTemplate

Hi,
I need zu generate several forms from a formtemplate. The formtemplate ist published on a Infopathserver (beta 2 tr). I already managed to load a form template into a XmlFormView and to write some data into the form. But I can't save the form. If I try to use XmlFormView.XmlForm.SaveAs(), I get a "Method not implicated" error message.

I hope sb. can help.
