One additional thing I'd check - is everyone using the latest template? You know the two users with issues are - but what about the users who are NOT having issues? Have one of them update their template (in InfoPath Filler > New > right click the form and select get update) OR just take a look at the version number in the processing instructions of the XML they have recently submitted, comparing to the form template version.

In case it is any help in your detective work: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Introduction-to-user-roles-9c77bb88-cb2e-4fad-829b-5bd4c807b757

Has the following info:

Infopath Filler AD Group and User Role Issue

Good morning,

I just love when quirky things happen. I have an InfoPath filler form that uses AD global groups to determine user roles. I have two long-term users who, as of yesterday, are now randomly being put into the incorrect role when opening their forms i.e. for at least a year, the form has read their roles correctly and no changes were made to the form recently. I am looking for any ideas of how to rectify the issue. Here's what we have done so far:

I've verified that their MS ID profiles still show them being in the correct global group for the role they should be seeing (note they are both in the same group)

They have both cleared their IE and InfoPath caches

They have both restarted their computers

The role InfoPath is 'seeing' them as IS set as the default group, but InfoPath appears to force you to choose a default role. (If there is a way around this default, I'd love to know it.)

There is no role set at initiator

I'm toying with them requesting the group be removed from their MS ID profile and added back in. A sort of 'kick in the pants' for the profile. That's about all I can determine since this isn't affecting every user in that group nor users in any other group. Any other ideas would be appreciated!

Jen
