Your approach is correct - using different namespaces lets you have same named groups with different fields.

Re: Multiple identical XML Child tags / Infopath 2010

Thanks for your answer. The Problem is that I need different fields in identical named groups. For example, the child tag "DATASET" of the DEVICE_FIRMWARE-section must implement the fields IDENTNO and REVISION, the child DATASET of the HINTS-section must contain the fields DIALOG_ID and DIALOG_TYPE. So if I reference the fields, every DATASET contains all fields.

I think the smartest way to get rid of this is to use namespaces. I have epanded my XML File and added the XML-Namespaces like you see in the sample.

Re: Multiple identical XML Child tags / Infopath 2010

I think you'd need to use references for the individual fields for something like this - so you'd create the groups, add fields you need to one group, and if you need the same named fields in your second group, you'd right click the field you created, select reference, and then select the other group....

Multiple identical XML Child tags / Infopath 2010

Hi all,

I want to use InfoPath to create a form for generation of XML files. InfoPath 2010 seems to have a problem with identical named child tags containing different child structure related to different Parent-Tags...

You find a sample of my XML structure in the file XML.jpg. As you see in the attachment "felder.jpg" InfoPath cannot make a difference between the "DATASET" tags, puts all the fields into the DATASET-Group and ignores the Relations to the parent tag.

Is this a Problem of InfoPath 2010? Do you have any ideas? Or do you have any suggestion how to get rid of the sroblem?

Thanks for your help,

Matthias
