Where is this formula being used? When you set the Manager field from the Form Load rules? Actually, probably not - since you&#39;d use substring-after(<em><u>Value[Name = &quot;Manager&quot;]</u></em>, &quot;i:0#.f|membership|&quot;) if you were using this in your form load rules where you set the manager field... Is this in the latest form sample you posted? Is it simply leaving the manager field blank?&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

Re: Form Loads

the formula I am using to try and get just the email string is this:

Drag the fields onto the form. Add a button that runs the query for the data connection. Publish the form so you can do your testing in the browser. Open the form. Enter values in query fields and click the button you have added to execute the query. I am recommending this so that you can see what is returned in your data connections and better understand how to get the data you need back. What is the formula you are trying to get the manager email? What is the error you are getting? Or do you mean something else by &quot;didn&#39;t work&quot; - like the formula didn&#39;t return a value?

Re: Form Loads

how would i do what you are recommending here?

Re: Form Loads

please reference newly uploaded file. When you publish or run it you see that the manager field is two substrings. One the email and the other the federation string. I tried using substring after but it did not work. Is their a document on how to get the manager s name of the user that is queried with the userprofile services. I dont even mind the mgr coming across as an email. Makes it easier for approval workflow. But i just cant find a way to use the substring and have it work. Ive been through every doc I can imagine.

Re: Form Loads

Is that manager info from the initial Get User Profile By Name query? You could then set the account name to that manager&#39;s account name, and query that data connection again to get back the manager&#39;s info. Not sure what you mean by this: &quot;I have used the sub-string after function but to know avail i cannot parse out the email&quot; Substring-after could be used for this - you are looking for the substring after &quot; i:0#.f|membership|&quot;. Put the query &amp; data fields from these various connections on your form and add buttons that query them - you can clean it all up after you are done developing your form - then you can see what is returned in various fields for various queries.

Re: Form Loads

this works fine, but it brings across an email for the manager instead of the manager name.
