If so, then yes this is doable, the only problem you would be facing is the limitation of what you can query from SharePoint. May I know how you are categorizing the dropdown for each user?

What I have in mind is arranging the items in SharePoint to have a column that determines who the current item is for (example: Set A, B, C, D, E, etc...), then the user should have a group, and I was thinking of using the Active Directory to deterimnethe current user's department. If not, you could create a new list and add in all the users together with the group they belong to (example: Group 1,2,3,4, etc...). If you already have this kind of setup, you can add a field called CurrentGroup and then filter out your dropdown control based on the current user's group. I hope this makes sense.

Regards,

User Recognition

Hello Community,

I'm looking for a little support with forms regarding Infopath's ability to recognize user' and tailor form options accordingly. I'm in the process of data gathering with the help of Infopath through Sharepoint(both versions are 2013). I need to have a form elements change based on who is filling out the form(for security reasons). Building a form for each user specifically is out of the question as I'm working with a combination over 1900 application/endpoints. The Sharepoint is tied into a backend db which regularly updates the information as to who and want application I'm targeting. I want to happen is User A goes to complete a form through SharePoint, and master drop-list of all applications/endpoints narrows down based on User A's associated application/endpoint in the data connection. Can this be done in Infopath or will this need to be completed in Designer? Please let me know and provide some sample coding. Thank you!
