I searched but did not see a current thread. My enterprise is about to move from SP 2010 to 2013. We're also ugrading Office from 2007 to 2013 and that will include InfoPath 2013.

As a "citizen developer" in a buiness area, I have created countless "apps" using SP 2010 forms libraries, InfoPath 2007, and SharePoint Designer 2010 workflows. It has been a marvelous tool set for business processes too small to warrant IT development. Now, my world is getting rocked!

I understand that InfoPath 2013 no longer supports "code behind"--VBScript and JScript. I get that, but the problem is our IT folks are balking at providing Visual Studio licenses for the business developers in order to be able to create forms with managed code--Visual Basic or C#.

So, my question is whether the full Visual Studio application is required to author Infopath 2013 forms, or whether any of the VSTA verstions suppport InfoPath 2013.

Thanks for any recommendations or shared experiences you can provide. Also wondering about any 3rd-party form apps that might be as flexible as InfoPath .

Leon
