So, I'm having a little trouble understanding quite what you are doing here, but I'd suggest this, basing it on some guesses of your schema. :)

concat("SetValue /xpath=/my:myFields/my:TempHold/my:TempHoldSubmit[my:tmp_TestID=", ID2,"]/my:tmp_ck_WT_Gravimetric /value=", ck_WT_Gravimetric[ID2 = tmp_TestID])

So your XPath, after concat, should select the TempHoldSubmit row where the tmp_TestID is equal to the ID2 of the row you are working on?

qRules to Update Existing Repeating Table Data

Hi, I need help with a qrules setvalue command to update existing data in a repeating table....

I have a form where I am collecting data from the user, and pushing it to a repeating table (this is simply a holder such that once all data is collected, all data is submitted at once to a SharePoint list). Everything is working well, with one exception. Here's the scenario (see screenshot): user enters 3 items in the main repeating table, for each, the user selects tests using the button in the repeating table which opens the checkboxs view 2. After tests have been selected, there is a button in View 2 that has rules to submit the data to the "hidden" repeating table. This is done initially using qRules (all occurrences of ID2 != to tmp_TestID) with commands to insert the row and set values to push the data in. This works fine. Lastly, the user is taken back to View 1 to enter more tests.

Here is the command to push in data: concat("SetValue /xpath=/my:myFields/my:TempHold/my:TempHoldSubmit[last()]/my:tmp_WT_Gravimetric /value=", WT_Gravimetric[ID2 = tmp_TestID])

*ID2 is the id from the original repeating table for the given row (view 1), and tmp_TestID is the matching ID in the hiddlen repeating table

Here's the fun part: Now, if the user wants to go back and edit his selection, he clicks the same button in the view 1 repeating table for whichever row he wants to edit. The data is brought back to the view from the hidden repeating table (checkboxes populate back accordingly). He makes edits, and clicks the "submit button" again. Ideally, if the user is editing row 2, then the row 2 data is updated with the new selections in the hidden repeating table. I have this working if there is only one row to start with. Also, it works if there are multiple rows, but the user only edits the last row (the highest ID number). However, it does not work if there are multiple rows, and the user edits any but the latest row.

My update rule is "any occurrence of ID2 = tmpID. But I have also tried simply ID2=tmp_TestID, and it doesn't help. Then there are multiple commands to set each value (similar to the original push). Here is one...

concat("SetValue /xpath=/my:myFields/my:TempHold/my:TempHoldSubmit[current()]/my:tmp_ck_WT_Gravimetric /value=", ck_WT_Gravimetric[ID2 = tmp_TestID])

I have tried leaving the [last()] (like the original push command), but then tried the [current()] and neither have worked.

I also tried instead of using ID2 (the main repeating table row ID number), but using a text field where ID 2 is passed into the second view into this text field (so it's not repeating). This didn't help.

Any suggestions?

I have qRules 6.1, InfoPath 2010 and SharePoint 2010.

Thanks! Gwen
