I am sure this is just the start of many questions. I have put in 3 days worth of rambled learning trying to understand Sharepoint and Infopath. I am hoping to have approval today to purcahse qRules or the Value Pack Plus.

Re: Sharepoint List or Library?

Hi - Hiding the ribbon is easy - that is just a form setting. Under the File "backstage", select Form Options (the button says "Form Options", the description says "Advanced Form Options" because it would just kill people to be consistent). From there, go to the Web Browser category and deselect the "Show InfoPath commands in Ribbon or toolbar" checkbox.

For a unique form name, I usually add a field to my form's data source named FormName. I add a rule to the Form Load rules:

If FormName is blank, set it to concat(userName(), " - ", now())

Then in the submit data connection, I use my FormName field for the name. This will give each form a unique and unchanging name.

Re: Sharepoint List or Library?

Looks like I found an initial answer to my question. IP List forms cannot be used with Repeating tables. I think this is going to be a requirement. I guess I will be forced to use a Library form. Not a big deal. It just forces me to learn how to hide the ribbon, create unique filenames with the submit button, and a few other things.

I need to find a way to convince work to allow me to purchas the Value Pack Plus.

Sharepoint List or Library?

I am completely new to Sharepoint and Infopath. I am not a sw programmer either. I am skilled enough to learn drag-drop software to get what we require. I have been playing around with creating forms to gather input we require. My team moved companies and they have no IT support. I am left trying to redevelop our database requirements from the ground up. I will probably be purchase the Value Pack Plus because there are definitely things in qRules that I will need and the extra things may make my life easier.

Basically, we had an expense database that collects request information and manages a set of approvals. It was mostly a repository of data that exported to Excel if there was ever an executive review. Without InfoPath, I created a basic form in Sharepoint Designer that loaded the data as a list. When I got Infopath, it loads the form as a file to a Library. I am not sure which way to go. This is not an elaborate database or set of data. It is mostly text fields with a few calculation fields. I do need the columns in the view to show data in the proper format. When I used Infopath for the form, the column views for numbers simply showed them as integers and not currency. I have not found a method to change the number formatting if it is from a Library.

Any suggestions or advice on where to start is appreciate. I am a complete n00b at Infopath and Sharepoint. Everything I have learned has been over the last 3 days mostly watching videos on YouTube. Most of those are from Qdabra.
